Kitty Mod Tutorial – S’mores and Strawberry Kitty

“I’ll share mine if you share yours”

It’s quite easy to transform my Kitty Mod pattern into something a little bit more special. Just use your imagination! Treats and fruits are a fun place to start. And that’s what I did in the case of my S’mores and Strawberry Kitty Mods.

You can find the base for my Kitty Mod pattern here on my website.

For the S’mores Kitty, it’s really quick to just add some chocolate and some graham crackers to transform it into something really tasty!

S’mores Kitty Mod

SmoresCalicfer

First make the Kitty Mod Pattern in a white color for the marshmallow.

Chocolate
With dark brown yarn
Row 1: ch 10, sl st into 2nd ch from hook and in each sl st across – 9 sl st
Row 2-7: ch 1, sl st in each st across – 9 sl st
Fasten off leaving a long tail

Graham Crackers (make 2)
With warm brown yarn
Row 1: ch 9, sl st into 2nd ch from hook and in each sl st across – 8 sl st
Row 2-7: ch 1, sl st in each st across – 8 sl st
Fasten off leaving a long tail

Assembly
Sew the Chocolate on top of the white body. Then sandwich the Graham Crackers with one on top of the body and one on the bottom and sew them down as well.

First create the Kitty Mod in a strawberrish color (pink, red).

Leafy Part
With green yarn
Ch 6, sl st into 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 2 ch, sl st in next 2 st,
*ch 5, sl st into 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 2 ch, sl st in next ch, sl st to join to previous leaf* (repeat 4x)
Total leaves = 5
Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Sew onto the back of Kitty Mod.

Now all that’s left is to create the little dots on the Strawberry. Here you can get creative. What I did is to use cotton thread (size 10) to create little French knots and sew them down. If you don’t like French knots, just do Ch 2, sc into first ch to create the little dots.

You can also use beads or rhinestones to give it an extra sparkle. I just glued down some acrylic rhinestones using Fabri-tac. What’s nice about doing this is there are no ends to hide! Anyways, there’s really no wrong way to do this!
