Tamadra Amigurumi Egg Crochet Pattern

So I made this Tamadra Amigurumi quite a few years ago for my sis who was very into mobile games and at that time, she loved to play “Puzzle and Dragons.” Although this crochet Tamadra amigurumi looks cute, it is apparently called a “monster” in the game and acts as a type of food enhancement to other monsters.

Tamadras are rare to find. So when you get them, you’ll want to hold onto them until you come across a high level monster. And then, if you feed it the Tamadra, this may “awaken” special skills in the monster.

So here’s how the game Tamadra looks like.

And here’s my take on a crochet Tamadra amigurumi. I hope I did it justice!

Tamadra Crochet Puzzle and Dragons

The name “Tamadra” can be broken down into into both Japanese and English. “Tama” comes from “Tamago” which means Egg in Japanese and “Dra” seems to have been taken from the English word “Dragon.” So the Tamadra name itself is an amalgation of both egg and dragon. And when you see the design of the character, you can see the fusion of those two words as well.

There’s first the egg shell and the creature itself is very round like an egg. If you look at its back, it has wings like a dragon too! Other notable designs include a star in the middle of the egg shell.

Tamadra Amigurumi Back

Some years ago, the company that created the game, GungHo Online, was at Anime Expo while I was in artist alley. My sister was able to deliver to them my Tamadra amigurumi and I think they quite enjoyed it!

As you can see they made quite a nest and home for him amongst the other monsters. How cool is that?

During my research for this blog post, I discovered Puzzles and Dragons Gold version is coming out on Nintendo Switch sometime this year. It’ll be released in Japan first, but hopefully it’ll make its way to America as well!

Well, I hope you enjoy crocheting this cute little Tamadra amigurumi and in the meanwhile, I hope you don’t run into too many scary monsters. If you do, feed them a Tamadra!
