Here is Pchan amigurumi in a cute and free crochet pattern! He is an adorable black pig with a hopeless sense of direction.
So Ranma 1/2 is one of my all time favorite anime and manga by the comedic genius of Rumiko Takahashi. And there’s many characters from there which I love, but one of the cutest character animal that emerges from the story is P-Chan.
Being such a fan of the show, I was so ecstatic when I heard that they were doing a new reboot of Ranma for the new generation. Ranma ½ originally came out in the late 80s/90s.
So I first wrote the crochet pattern for Pchan amigurumi back in 2012, but in honor of the new show that’s airing currently on Netflix, I thought it would be fun to share him as a free crochet pattern.
He’s an adorable black pig with a yellow bandanna and a terrible sense of direction, He has a huge crush on a girl named Akane Tendo who finds him and adopts him as her pet pig.
Here he is wandering around lost. “Wheeeere am I?!”
Sidenote: Akane Tendo is one of my favorite characters and I’ve cosplayed her in the past. Here I am at Anime Expo as Akane who somehow got mixed up with the Game of Thrones characters.. Haha what can I say, Pchan got us lost at Anime Expo 😂.
[Warning: Spoilers for those who haven’t watched the show]
Well, Pchan the Pig is really a teenage boy by the name of Ryoga Hibiki. He fell into a cursed spring, “Spring of Drowned Pig,” so when splashed with cold water he turns into a pig. When splashed with hot water, he turns back into a boy.
Here’s crochet Pchan with a doll of his human self, Ryoga Hibiki. Now you see where he got his yellow bandana from. Hmmm I wonder why Akane never notices? 😆
I have such a love for Ranma 1/2 I’ve even crocheted most of the animals from the show including Shampoo the Cat and Mousse the Duck. I’m just missing Mr. Panda!
If you’re interested in Mousse the Duck, you can find him here as a premium pattern. As a bonus, it’ll also include the written P-Chan pattern as a bundle.
Finally here is Pchan amigurumi with my cat, Callie, so you can see his size proportion. Maybe Callie can cosplay as Shampoo!

October 12, 2024 at 3:41 amSo cute and looks so well made. I’ve read and watched Ranma 1/2 maybe 20-25 years ago. You did a great job capturing the character.
Thank you for sharing this pattern! 🙂
